Remote Engine Start

Postby Karimdeen » Tue Jun 29, 2010 1:52 pm

Hey all!
I have the remote engine start option on my FJ and I am wondering if there is any way of being able to keep the engine running when I open the door as when I open the door the engine shuts off (security feature) and I have to manually re-start with the key??

Cheers,
Karim

A further update to the remote engine start - I think I have found a way to basically use the Remote Engine Start as a "Keyless Go" system.

On the rear door there is a type of button that when you open the door pops out causing the engine to turn off. If this button is kept pushed in then the engine remains running with the door open so in theory you should be able to drive off.

Question remains is how to keep the button pushed in?? I thought perhaps a small welded or screwed plate covering it?!?

Any ideas guys?

That's not gonna work!!! The key has to be in for the steering lock to be disabled and to be able to shift the car into drive. Is it really that much of a pain to have to turn the key in the ignition?

Not a hassle dude but just something that would be quite kool :) Granted you would have to use the key if the steering lock was on in the first place but if not in theory it might work. Still keen to try just out of curiosity!
